This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri is still trying to find her way. She has stopped trying to see "the boys" daily it is just not feasible, and her anxiety about not seeing them daily is getting a tiny bit better. She knows they are well taken care of and safe. Now to figure out Sheri.

  1. Maybe if we could turn back the clock to 2008 and look in the mirror, my wife and I would see you and Bob staring back at us. I was diagnosed last December at 62 with EOAD (although I believe my neurologist hasn't completely ruled out FTD) after a FDG PET scan. I still score a 30 on a MMSE, but a more detailed battery of neuropsych tests showed a decline from about the 90th to 30th percentile in visual-spatial cognitive performance in a year. So I appreciate your blog, even if I don't quite like where it suggests I'm going in the years to come. You set a great example for us to follow. God bless! Heading Somewhere

  2. I found it hard to find any kind of rhythm or routine as well when my husband was placed and continues now after he's passed, but Sheri you've put one foot in front of the other in the most brilliant fashion all these years and you will continue to do so and you will find your way in this new phase of your and the boys' lives...stay strong!
