This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob has been so content with his beads lately that Sheri made the mistake of trying to work on cleaning out the garage last Saturday. The garage is only a few steps from the house and Sheri was checking on him often. At some point "Al" got disoriented and realized he did not know what to do or where anybody was and fear set in. When Sheri popped back in expecting to see "Al" singing along to Daniel O'Donnell, she found Bob angrier than she has ever seen demanding to know what was going on and why no one was telling him anything. Sheri knows her routine and everyone guiding Bob through his day keeps "Al" grounded... but even she did realize just how much.
Sheri needs to pause, praise, pray... and plan.
