This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Bob is very frustrated that no one will tell him what is going on and what the plan is. Sheri looked at the clock and at 2:00 am Sheri does not know the plan either. Sheri needs that door alarm sooner than later before "Al" makes his own plan :)

  1. Hi Sheri, you really are having a tough time at the moment. For a door alarm, we purchased a "laser beam" type alarm, the kind you might find when you go into a small shop (cross the beam in the doorway and it makes a "bing bong" noise.) It was inexpensive, and very easy to set up. I have it in my Mum's room, and mounted it so I can tell if she sits up, or stands up from her bed. Those sensor mats are very cost prohibitive. In NZ we also have a "Wandatrack" pendant, do you have something similar just in case? http://www.alzheimers.org.nz/regions/waikato/wandatrack-tracking-system
