This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri and Bob attend a small group bible study that started up again for season last evening. Sheri waited to the very last moment to read the material in hopes that Bob would retain a small portion of what they read. Well actually heard, after several years of Sheri reading the study out loud for Bob and "Al", she has taken to playing it for him, either on tape or now with these wonderful techno gadgets, playing it on her ipad (what a life saver). Anyway they listened to the study and rushed out the door to get there on time. They had only just gotten in the car and approached the first light when "Al" said with anxiety in his voice "we have not done the study or read anything to prepare." Sheri was frustrated inside, she hates that he gets upset about things like this, she can not fix this stupid disease.  She said nothing, turned to him, smiled and patted his knee.
Inside she is crying.
