This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Because of Bob not remembering he has already eaten, and eats again, Bob has been gaining weight steadily. He has gone from a size 32 waist to a 36 waist. When he started gaining it was not a big deal because he had always been extremely underweight, and actually now looks better than he ever did. Anyway, Sheri has just been switching out his pants and Bob never really noticed. Yesterday Sheri must have missed getting rid of one of the smaller pairs of pants because Bob came out of the bathroom with a pair of jeans on that could not close by a good three inches. Sheri got nervous that he might realize how much weight he had gained, but "Al" just looked down at himself trying to squeeze the waistband together and said "Are you trying to confuse me? I think you gave me one of the girls pair of jeans!"  :)
