This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"
Sheris girls wound up coming in for their Grandmothers funeral a big blessing indeed. Daughter number one was brave enough to travel with "Al" by herself to Texas for the funeral . Daughter number 2 came from California with her husband. Watching Bob struggle to understand what is happening around him, is so hard to watch. However Sheri could tell he knew it wasn't good.

I pray for you Sheri, and for Bob and your girls. As they say in France, bon courage...
ReplyDeleteAfter the funeral the family gathered at the house. Some tears, some laughter and lots of talk. As the time grew late, Robert rose from his chair and headed toward me. Although some sought to stop him he would not be stopped. I could not help but wonder whether was Bob or Al who approached me. He sat next to me and explained over and over how important
