This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri's cat Meeko does not like Bob or "Al" for that matter. She has always avoided him with his strange noises. Sheri always feels bad since "Al" is all coochie, coochie coo... towards Meeko (not like Bob at all, he couldn't have cared less about the cat) and stretches out is huge hand wiggling his fingers toward himself making strange noises has if trying to summons a ghost ( I know, hard to imagine but that is the best I can do :) but Meeko runs the other way.  Sheri had the opportunity to add a kitty to the household and since she will be the "crazy cat lady" someday, she took the kitty. But her main thought process was that maybe a kitten would, if trained to like Bob and "Al" from babyhood, actually like him. Bob always preferred dogs, but at this moment Sheri doesn't think it will matter. Anyway, she has had the kitty for about a month now she is 3.5 months old and Sheri is delighted to say that the cat is not afraid of Bob or "Al" even when he makes noises and wiggles the magic hand at her. Zoey has been sitting on his lap and purring! This makes everyone very happy... and Bob and "Al" love their new friend. Mission accomplished.  :)
