This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Sheri never knows when it will hit. A wave of emotion that she can not control. The kind of emotion that takes your breath away. Sheri was chopping vegetables listening to Pandora radio. Her selection being easy listening music. Up pops Whitney Houston's "One Moment in Time" their wedding theme song. Within seconds it started, the feeling that she had lost every memory she had of who they were in the beginning... the very beginning. Sheri had to catch herself on the kitchen counter to keep herself from sliding to the ground. She stayed standing but weak against the counter. Then in a border line hysterical state, she realized she needed to pull herself together, because if she did slide to the ground... there would have been no one there that was capable of picking her up.

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18

  1. (((HUGS))) Anything I could say to try and lift your spirits just seems trite – because I know the same heartache. I did stumble on to this shortly after reading your blog. Perhaps Christopher Robin’s words to Pooh can soothe: “Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.” I'll be praying that God revives your spirit.
