Though it was perfectly natural for my husband and I to become best and closest friends, if I had it to do over, I would have made a point to develop more friends outside of our marriage. The problem with having had such a close relationship, is that now that he is “here but gone” it is very, very lonely. My youngest son is applying to colleges and I literally cannot let my mind even touch on what it will be like when he leaves.
