This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

The care faculty has a fairly realistic baby doll for the residents to hold. The doll was sitting on the couch across from Bob's chair. "Al" leaned over and whispered to Sheri "I am surprised they leave that baby unattended like that." Sheri replied "well I think she is sleeping" to which "Al" whispered back "well...I guess they know best."
Dear sweet man.

Sheri: My Bob and your Bob are settling in but Al will always be there. You've made a wonderful commitment to that fine, gentle man. You made the right decision and did the right thing although it was difficult...hooray for you!
