This blog is about life with my husband who was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's and Frontal Lobe Dementia in 2008. He was 64 at the time although now, knowing more about the disease, Alzheimer's was present many, many years ago, which is why early detection is so important. As you read the blog the character "Al" that I created in 2008, represents the way that Alzheimer's is invading our daily lives.
There is an archive tab further down the page that starts from the beginning of our journey.

Living with Bob and "Al"

Yesterday on the way to "work" (code for Adult Day Center) Sheri drove past their church (which is the way she drives daily since it is the only way to get to Bob's work.) Bob looked over at the parking lot of the church and said " It doesn't look like anyone is there." Sheri replied "Well Bob it is only 7:25 in the morning." They drove a few more minutes and Bob asked "Where are we going now?" Sheri said "we are going to work." "Al" replied "today?" Sheri trying to clarify for him said "Yes, it is Tuesday a work day." "Al" getting frustrated said "Well then why did you tell me it was Sunday?" Sheri, getting more frustrated mumbled under her breath "I did not say it was Sunday." "Al" mumbled under his breath, "then why did you drive us to church?"

  1. You have to smile at his logic. It is these moments I remember with affection.

  2. The twisted logic often gives me a smile as well. I am often feeling like I am in the middle of that Abbott & Costello script - "Who's on first?"

  3. That is what I always say too!
